Steal Massive Gold
When you do attack on other players, the game put you among other players with the similar number of trophies. As most players try to win trophies, you will find as your trophy counts goes up, the more difficult your opponents become (harder to steal resources from them). In addition, with higher amount of trophies, the amount of money you can loot does not increase significantly. Therefore to steal massive gold, stay around 500~800 trophies where the averge loot is about 70k ~ 100k gold. If you have too much trophies already, you can drop by sending one barbarian to a fight and surrender right away. You will lose 10 trophies each time. I often have to argue with nobbies regarding this issue of not focusing on trophies in the beginning, instead focusing on gold. The reason is every upgrade from walls to weapons cost lots of gold. If you want your for to be strong, forget about the trophies, go for the gold. Once your town is strong enough, you can then think about getting trophies. What I use to steal gold is the following.
1. Build an army with 7 giants, 5 wall breakers, 60 Goblins.
2. Choose attack and click next until you find an opponent with 50k~100k Gold
3. Look where the gold is, send 2 giants to the wall where it's closest to the gold storage, and then send 2~3 wall breakers. Once the wall is down, send a few more giants to distract the mortars and the wizard towers. These two weapons can kill your goblins quickly. Once the mortars are focusing on the giants, send 30 Goblins to steal the gold.
Win Trophies
As Many of us have built up strong fort, some of us will start moving up our trophy
counts. To win trophies, you can win by attacking other players or successful defend your town. Therefore, having a strong fort is paramount so that you can keep the trophies you win.
***Important, if your townhall hasn't reached level 7, it is recommended that you stay below
800 trophies and continue to build your town hall and fort.*** There are three criteria to win trophies offensively: 1. Destroy Town Hall, 2. Destroy 50% of the buildings, and 3. Destroy 100% of
the buildings.
To win easy trophies, find players with unprotected town halls. Many players stay low to steal gold like us. The way to keep their trophy low is to leave their townhall out in the open, so you will find many players below 800 that leave their townhall in the open. Once you move into 1000 range,
players like these will be harder to find. The trophy per successful drop down from 40 trophy per win to 20 trophy per win. Neverthless, it feels good to completely destroy another player's town.
Finding right opponent:
To win trophies, you want to find opponents that can offer you decent trophies amount if you win, and easy layout for attack. If they have lots of resource, even better. But usually it's not easy to find a perfect
opponent with lots of resource, poor defense and decent trophies. I
Layout:
In turn of layout, find opponents that use open concept, meaning a long outer wall with all buildings inside the walls and few divisions. That is the easiest layout to attack as your attacking force can easily and quickly move from building to building.
Defensive
Weapons: Find opponents that place their weapons near outer walls, that can be taken out by archers without breaking the walls. Check if the mortars are easily accessible, as mortars would be your biggest
threat.
Troop Composition:
I
use 8~10 Giants, 6~8 wall breakers, 30 Goblins, and 40~50 archers.
Giants:
8~10 Giants are used to distract defensive weapons and use as giant human shield. Before sending wall breakers, it is useful to send 1 giant to distract nearby canon or towers. Once the wall is opened, send 6 giants to attack the mortar, wizard tower or simply to distract canons and towers. While all the defensive weapons are focusing on the giants, use archers to take out the weapons near the outer wall.
Wall
Breakers: 6~8 Wall Breakers for breaking walls. Often you will find players at 1000 level have secondary wall that you need to break in as well. To break the secondary wall, you need to place your wall breakers in the exact spot as you break the first wall.
Goblins:
After sending the giants to distract the defensive weapons, use goblins to take out resource buildings. They are fast and can destroy the resource buildings quickly. As they move from building to building, sometimes they can dodge the mortar shot too. You want to use goblins to clear out these
buildings so you can send your next wave of attack with archers to focus on taking out the weapons. With the resource buildings around, it slows down your archer's movement.
Archers:
Finally, send 10 archers per each defensive weapon you want to take out. Hopefully, your giants are still alive, if not send a few more giants to distract the weapons again. By this time, most resource buildings are gone, leaving you mostly weapons to target. See if there is a mortar near the town hall. If not, let's take out the town hall for an extra star. If there is mortar close to the town hall and your giants are dead,
find buildings that are unprotected and go for a 50% win.
Barbarian:
I tried barbarian. They are tougher than archers and goblins, but they are stupid. If you have an opponents with lots of walls inside the outer wall, the barbarians will often die while trying to break the secondary wall. Barbarian is VERY good if your opponent have a open layout. But as you
move higher on your trophy count, you will find fewer and fewer player use open layout. Most players have layers and layers of walls or boxes of wall. And archers are better attackers against these kind of layout.
Air
units (Balloon, Dragon): I haven't been using these units too much simply because they take too long to produce. If you attack once a while, they may be great units to use, but if you're attacking constantly like me and HC, Manufacturing Time is important.
